KRS Wants Hip Hop Religion Written by Tom Mull  22 August 2009

Rap legend KRS-One is to release a book, The Gospel of Hip Hop: The First Instrument, in an attempt to create a new religion based around Hip Hop culture.

The Boogie Down Productions rapper has drawn on his 14 year career in Hip Hop to write the "life-guide manual for members of Hip Hop Kulture." The 600 pages take a look at hip hop from a spiritual approach.

 
Memphis Bleek Goes Indie With New Album Written by Tom Mull  21 August 2009

Memphis Bleek is to release his new album on a new record label and distribution deal.

Bleek will release The Process, his first studio album since 2005, in November via a distribution deal between his own label, Get Low Records and Boston based label, Mass Appeal Entertainment.

 
C-Murder Sentenced To Life In Prison Written by Ron Charles  15 August 2009

Today in Gretna, Louisiana, rapper Corey Miller also known as C-Murder, was sentenced Friday to life in prison for the 2002 shooting of 16-year-old Steve Thomas. The shooting occurred during a brawl, which broke out at a New Orleans nightclub during a rap contest.

Lil Wayne Makes a Court Appearance Written by King Tut  13 August 2009
Lil Wayne has been making headlines recently, but this time it's not for his music. On Tuesday August 11, 2009, Lil Wayne made a very brief (mere minutes) appearance in a Manhattan Court Room. Lil Wayne was charged with illegal possession of firearms in 2007. In May, the officer who made the arrest made a statement in court that had conflicting times with the time of arrest being different than the time the tour bus Lil Wayne was on was pulled over.

Scribble Jam Cancelled Written by Tom Mull  12 August 2009

Scribble Jam '09 will no longer go ahead due to a lack of sponsors. The annual event held at Annie's Entertainment Complex in Cincinnati, Ohio cost approximately $100,000 to produce. The event is heavily sponsored by automobiles companies and as a result of the current economic situation, many have pulled out. Scribble Jam has fialed to find sufficient funding.
