Eminem and Apple Lawsuit Written by Tom Mull   24 September 2009

Eminem's music publisher, Eight Mile Style is planning to sue Apple for the unauthorized distribution of songs. Eight Mile Style claims that 93 Eminem songs were sold via iTunes illegally.

Apple claim that the aforementioned songs were authorized by Aftermath Records. Eight Mile Style argue that Aftermath do not have the rights to make deals on digital downloads.

The case is scheduled in court today (September 24) after it was filed back in 2004.

Apple alledgedly made $2.5 million from teh tracks, the majority of which from Eminem's 2002 smash hit, Lose Yourself. The publishing companies want a refund for their loss in royalties as well as a share of the profits in iPod sales.

This is not Eminem's first dispute with Apple. In March, a production company that worked with the rapper unsuccessfully sued Apple over iTunes royalties.

Moreover, in 2005, Apple were forced to pull an iPod that featured Lose Yourself in the advertisement. The two parties also came to a out of court financial settlement amid thretens of suing.
