DMX has pulled out of his scheduled boxing match with actor Eric Martinez.

The reasoning behind this recent U-turn is unclear but sources suggest that it is likely to have failed to come off as the rapper's safety could not be guarunteed.

Another report said that X dropped out because Thunder Promotions refused to 'fix' the fight; the company may now pursue legal action against the controversial artist.

A variety of other popular rappers have been contacted to step in for the fight on December 12 in Alabama. A replacement may be announced as early as next week.

DMX's decision comes as a shock as the rapper was recently speaking confidently about the fight, saying he was not going to train for the bout.

The Alabama Pride event is still set o take place, with Butterbean versus Tank Abbott headlining at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama.
